City of Derby Swimming Club got off to a storming start to their 2009 campaign in the National Arena Swimming League o­n Saturday 10th October with wins for both A and B teams.

2009 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League, final – 21st June
The young swimmers of City of Derby Swimming Club travelled to Mansfield at the weekend to compete in the final of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League.  Facing the strongest teams in the league, the swimmers built o­n their performances of earlier rounds of the competition and put o­n a spirited defence of their title as league champions.  In the end however they were overwhelmed by a powerful Nottingham Leander squad which dominated the gala.  The swimmers had the consolation however of a good second place finish, ahead of rivals Chesterfield, who beat them in the second round, and comfortably ahead of Long Eaton.

2009 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League, round two – 17th May
The young swimmers of City of Derby Swimming Club put o­n a superb performance in the second round of the 2009 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League at Queens Leisure Centre, Derby o­n Sunday 21st May, winning 19 of the 47 events and coming second in a further 13.  Despite this the team were unable to overcome an impressive challenge by Chesterfield and were narrowly beaten by just three points to bring to an end an impressive unbeaten run in the league of six straight wins.

2009 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League, round 1 – 5th April
The young swimmers of City of Derby Swimming Club embarked o­n their 2009 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League campaign o­n Sunday 5th April.  Hosting the gala at the Queens Leisure Centre, they put o­n an impressive performance in a close run and exciting competition, to win the gala by a margin of just six points from a strong Long Eaton team.

National Swimming League round three – 13th December 2008
City of Derby Swimming Club teams had contrasting fortunes at the weekend as they finished off their National Swimming League campaigns for 2008.  The A team was competing in the West Midlands final at Coventry while a depleted B team travelled to Wombourne in Staffordshire for their crucial second division relegation battle.

National Swimming League round two – 8th November 2008
Two teams from City of Derby Swimming Club were in action again at the weekend in round two of the National Swimming League competition.  Competing at home, the A team put in a great performance to finish in second place o­nce again to Calverton and Bingham by a margin of just nine points.  They must now await the results from other galas to find out whether or not they qualify for the final.  Meanwhile the B team travelled to Clay and put up a great fight to finish in third place.

National Swimming League round one – 11th October 2008
Two teams from City of Derby Swimming Club started their 2008 National Swimming League campaigns at the weekend with the A team, competing in Division o­ne, travelling to Nuneaton while the B team, competing in Division two, hosted their first round at the Queens Leisure Centre, Derby. City of Derby A put in a strong performance o­n the night to finish in second place overall to a greatly improved team from Calverton and Bingham Swimming Club. Meanwhile an under strength B team struggled to make headway against strong opposition in their gala and, despite some superb swims, finished up in sixth place.

2008 Diddy League Southern Area Semi Final
The young swimmers from City of Derby Swimming Club travelled to Aylesbury o­n Sunday, 5th October, to take part in the Southern Area semi final of the National Junior Speedo League competition.  In a tough competition against some of the best clubs in the Country, the team of 30 nine to twelve year olds put up in a strong and spirited performance, finishing up in fifth place overall.

2008 Diddy League Final - 20th June
The young swimmers from City of Derby Swimming Club rounded off their 2008 Diddy league campaign with a superb victory in the final of the competition to retain their title as champions and secure themselves a place in the Southern area final of the national competition for a second year in succession.

National Speedo Swimming League B final – 11th May 2008
City of Derby Swimming Club travelled to Ponds Forge, Sheffield, o­n May 11th, to make their first ever appearance in the National Speedo Swimming League B final.  Despite being ranked tenth among the qualifiers, the team put in a superb performance and held their own against tough competition, coming away in ninth place o­n the day.

2008 Diddy league round one - April 20th
Two teams of young swimmers from City of Derby Swimming Club opened their 2008 campaigns for the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Junior Speedo League o­n Sunday 20th April.  City of Derby A travelled to Sutton in Ashfield where they dominated their gala, winning 33 of the 47 events and coming second in a further eight, coming away worthy winners by a margin of 42 points over second place Long Eaton.  The B team swam in Derby and also put o­n a great performance to come in fourth place against tough opposition, winning nine events and coming second in a further four.

Speedo League round three – 8th December 2007
City of Derby Swimming Club swam their way to the national final of the Speedo Swimming League competition at the weekend.  City of Derby’s A team travelled to Coventry and took second place in an exciting gala to finish as runners up in the Midland region Speedo League competition.  In an exciting competition City of Derby pushed the home team, City of Coventry, all the way, finishing up just 16 points behind them.  They must now await the results from the other regions to find out if they will be competing in the Cup Final competition or the B final.

Speedo Junior Inter-League National Final - November 2007
The young swimmers of City of Derby Swimming Club ended their dream run in this year’s Junior Speedo League o­n Sunday 25th November when they took their part in the National Final of the competition. The squad of 26 nine to twelve year olds travelled to Wolverhampton where they took o­n the best clubs in the country and put up o­n a great performance in all age groups, finishing up in seventh place overall.

Speedo League round two – 10th November 2007
City of Derby Swimming Club stormed into the West Midlands regional final of the National Speedo Swimming League competition at the weekend following a decisive victory in the second round of the competition in Stechford, Birmingham o­n Saturday 10th November.  For the club’s A team, this was the second victory in the two rounds of competition so far and the winning margin of 52 points, o­nly slightly less than they achieved in their first round, will place them in a strong position in the league as they head to the final to be held in Coventry o­n 8th December.  Meanwhile the club’s B team were o­nce again swimming at home and put o­n a great performance against tough opposition, ending up in fifth place.

Speedo League round one – 13th October 2007
City of Derby got off to a cracking start to their 2007 Speedo League campaign. Travelling to Stetchford, Brimingham, the A team came away runaway winners by a margin of 66 points. The B team also did well against strong opposition, achieving a respectable fourth place

Junior Speedo League southern area final
A step up
The young swimmers from City of Derby Swimming Club travelled to Ipswich o­n Sunday 7th October to compete in the Southern Region final of the Speedo Junior Inter-League.  The team took the step up to National level competition in their stride and put in a superb performance to finish in third place just six points behind first place UAE City of Norwich and three and a half points behind Northampton.  By finishing in the top four, they qualified for a well deserved place in the National Final of the competition in November.

The young swimmers from City of Derby Swimming Club put o­n a superb performance in the third and final round of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Speedo League (the “Diddy League”) o­n Sunday 24th June and came away worthy winners in an exciting and closely fought contest.

Notts and Derbys Junior League, round 2 – 20th May 2007
City of Derby Swimming Club finished runaway winners of their second round tie in the 2007 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Speedo League o­n Sunday 20th May. In a superb overall performance they won 30 of the 41 events and every swimmer o­n the team won at least o­ne event in the gala. the result puts them in a strong postion for the final round of the competition o­n 24th June.

Notts and Derbys Junior Speedo League, round 1 – 22nd April 2007
City of Derby opened their 2007 Nottingham and Derbyshire Junior Swimming League campaign in fine style o­n 22nd April.  In a close competition, they finished in second place o­n the day with a performance to be proud of.  There were many great swims in all age groups and the team were rewarded with many individual and relay victories including by a resounding win in the Cannon relay.

City of Derby Swimming Club were o­nce again in action o­n Saturday 9th December in the third and final round of the 2006 Speedo League.  Both the "A" and "B" teams wrapped up their League campaigns with style, with the "A" team winning their gala, the "B" team coming in a creditable third.

Speedo League round 2 - 11th November 2006
Saturday evening saw the second round of the 2006 Speedo league and City of Derby Swimming Club again had two teams in action.  The A team travelled to Nuneaton for their event against strong opposition from Division 1 and achieved third place, while the B team, competing in Division 2, were in Ilkeston.

Speedo League round 1 – 14 October 2006
City of Derby Swimming Club had two teams in action o­n Saturday evening (14th October) in the first round of the West Midlands region of the 2006 National Speedo Swimming League. City of Derby A, competing in division o­ne, were hosting at Queens Leisure Centre while City of Derby B, competing in division two, travelled to Rugby.  Both teams performed well against strong opposition from around the region.

Notts and Derbys Junior League, round 3 – June 2006
City of Derby Swimming Club hosted the final round of the Notts and Derbys Junior Speedo League series at Clay Cross o­n Sunday 25th June. City of Derby and Nottingham Leander dominated throughout and were level pegging for most of the gala, well ahead of the rest of the field. Despite a spirited performance to the end, City of Derby eventually had to settle for a strong second place overall.

City of Derby Swimming Club travelled to Hucknall for the second round of the Notts and Derbys Junior Speedo League series o­n Sunday 7th May.  In an impressive performance the swimmers achieved wins in 25 out of the 41 events to win the gala by a margin of 35 points to emphatically secure their place in the final of the series.

Notts and Derbys Junior League, round 1 – April 2006
A great start
City of Derby Swimming Club opened its defence of its Notts and Derbys Junior Speedo League title with a visit to Eckington for the first round of this year’s series o­n Sunday 9th April.  The Club got off to a great start o­n the day to win the gala by a comfortable margin.  The swimmers achieved wins in 31 out of the 41 events, showing the kind of form that reflects their recent good performance at the County Championships.

Introduction
City of Derby SC travelled to Eckington for the first round of this year's Notts and Derbys Junior League. The Junior League is for swimmers aged 8 to 12. In recent years City of Derby have tasted success in this League finishing second in 2003 and 2004; and having won the league and progressed to the National Final in both 2001 and 2002.

City Of Derby enters an A and a B team in the Speedo League, which ensures maximum swimmer participation. o­n Saturday night the A team were in Coventry in the League Division 1 whilst the B Team were hosts at Queen's Leisure Centre in Division 2.

Co Derby Runners up in the Final Round
Queens Leisure Centre again had the sold out boards out o­n Sunday afternoon as the top six swimming teams from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire met to contest this year’s Junior League Final. At stake, as well as local pride, was the trophy and for the winner, progression to a prestigious Regional and possibly a National Final.

On this seasons form Nottingham Leander were hot favourites to win with City of Derby the closest rivals. It proved to be a ding-dong battle between City of Derby and Nottingham Leander.

Setting the Scene
Queens Leisure Centre was again packed to the rafters o­n Sunday afternoon for the second round of this years Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior League. Nottingham Leander had won the first gala in April with City of Derby finishing second. City of Derby again lined up against Nottingham Leander in this round.

 This was a very exciting Gala. Nottingham Leander led throughout with City of Derby always being close enough to suggest they may overturn last month’s result.

Introduction
Queens Leisure Centre was packed to the rafters o­n Sunday afternoon for the first round of this years Derbyshire and Notts Junior League. City of Derby has enjoyed considerable success in this competition in recent times winning the league in 2001 and 2002 and then progressing o­nto the National Finals. Last year the winners were Nottingham Leander. City of Derby and Nottingham Leander were two of the six teams in the gala o­n Sunday. History suggested that the winners would be o­ne of these two.
