Staffordshire Building Society Gala – 7th Feb, Uttoxeter
A team of swimmers from City of Derby Swimming Club travelled to Uttoxeter at the weekend to take part in the Staffordshire Building Society Gala, hosted by Dove Valley Swimming Club. For coach Steve Redfern the gala provided an excellent warm up for the coming season of league competitions and an opportunity for swimmers at all levels in the Club to participate. He commented, “We deliberately pick teams for these galas to give opportunities to swimmers who don’t always get into our first teams and to swim first team swimmers up an age group or on their second strokes”.

This was another really good night for City of Derby Swimming Club, with a full programme of events and another full house of spectators.

Some of the bigger cheers on the night were saved for the younger swimmers and probably none louder than for young Georgina Tovill-Coleman when she completed her 200 metres individual medley.

It is very pleasing to see them continuing in the sport and maintaining their links with City of Derby SC.
