Meets and Galas:
City of Derby top club at Belper open meet

      

Congratulations to all the swimmers who helped take City of Derby to the top club prize at the Belper Marlin open meet o­n Sunday, October 25.

City of Derby scored 230 points to take the top club prize by 34 points at the Queen’s Leisure Centre gala.

Host club Belper were 2nd o­n 196, followed by Ilkeston (193), Etwall (169) and Long Eaton (111).

Declan Smith took the overall top boy prize, with two other City of Derby swimmers in the overall boys’ top ten - Peter Softley (4th) and James Hindle (9th).

In the girls’ competition, Eleanor Baldwin was the overall runner-up.

In the disability event, Sophie Longhurst was swimming her first gala for City of Derby and won both the 50m free and 50m breast.

CoD swimmers picked up a string of first-place finishes and also a flurry of speeding tickets.
