Major Champs:
National Inter-Counties Championships – 18th October 2009

      

A number of City of Derby Swimming Club swimmers earned their County Colours o­n Sunday 18th October at the British Gas ASA National County Team Championships at Ponds Forge, helping Derbyshire achieve a 14th place finish in Division 1.

Catherine Williams took third in the girls 12/13 years 100m freestyle and was eighth in the 100m backstroke event. Sarah Vasey took fourth place in the girls 12/13 years 100m breaststroke while Georgina Tovell-Coleman took 17th place In the 12 / 13 years butterfly event. The girls 12 / 13 years medley relay team was made up of a City of Derby quartet of Eve Farnsworth, Sarah Vasey, Sophie Davies and Catherine Williams, who took 8th place.

James Latham took seventh in the boys 12 / 13 years breaststroke event and helped the boys 12 / 13 year medley relay team to a fifth place finish. In the boys 14 / 15 year age group Harry Webster came 13th in the 100m breaststroke while Connor Smith took 18th in the freestyle event and Charlie Softley took 19th place in the backstroke. Charlie, Harry and Connor were in the boys 14 / 15 years medley team who finished in 20th place.

Hannah Sullivan took 18th place in the girls 15 / 16 years backstroke and helped the girls 16 / 17 years medley relay team to 19th place. Kane Haggett helped the mens 16 / 17 years medley relay team to 9th place, swimming the anchor leg.
